Okay, we all know that money can be tight. Especially coming up on holiday times. Ladies, it is crucial to get that special one on one time with your fella’s or vice versa! The holidays are super busy around here, my Husband works in retail. So, yes, we hardly see him which makes time with him extra special. Also, we don’t have immediate family in the area, and really don’t have a committed babysitter that we can ALWAYS call on to watch our 4 year old and soon to be new baby. Of course, there is the money issue. Where do you go and what do you do when you’re just flat broke?
So, what do we do? We improvise and become creative. Granted, my Husband and I don’t always do these things, but I feel these are some great ideas to spend some quality time with your honey.
Rent a movie– AND watch at home. This is our personal favorite, or mine anyways. We are in the comfort of our own home, get to wear pajamas, and get to pause and go as you please. You’re not sitting in the theater’s uncomfortable seats trying to maneuver your hand into your Husbands seat around your drink in order to hold his hand. You can just get snuggled up, right on your couch!
Make dinner together – Another thing we do from time to time. We like to collaborate and make together. We get to talk about our day and laugh and joke around with one another. I can admit, when he suggests we make dinner together, I have been like ugh…I don’t want to do anything but sit here and finish binge watching this trashy TV, but when it’s done, I am glad we did it. I really do love to spend time with him and this really allows us to do that.
Check out deals with your local restaurants– We do this a lot. Get on the email lists of your local faves and they will send you coupons! When you are able to afford a few extra bucks, use a coupon and splurge. We do this when we can, most often with kids in tow. But, we really like to do this when it’s just us too.
Find local events– I know in our town, we have the local parks and rec host free events, some for the whole family! I like to add their facebook page and then you get notified when there is a new event coming up. This is a good way for you and your spouse to get out of the house and enjoy some time together, doing something active and fun. Ours does a lot of movies in the park. Bring a blanket and some drinks and voila, a sweet little date that doesn’t cost anything.
Go for a walk– Probably the most simple of them all, and the one we take the least advantage of, is just going for a walk. We say all the time that we are going to do this, and we have sometimes, but we just really don’t have the time, unless it’s in the middle of the night and after my Husband is off work. But, if this works for you and your spouse and you are able to, take advantage! Great way to connect without being distracted by so much stuff going on around you.
There you have it, my list of low cost, but mostly free date ideas for when you are on a budget. I know, they are cheesy, but they really make a difference in a relationship. Connecting with your partner is so important. Having a open and engaging conversation make a relationship stronger in my eyes. Take some of these into consideration and enjoy your time!!
